Manji is also the Japanese name for the Buddhist and Hindu svastika, 卍, which represents qualities of peace, intelligence and strength, and also a sign of good omen.
In Japan, the two forms of swastika are sometimes associated with the two components of enlightenment: the swastika pointing to the left, the Japanese omote manji (external svastika), or simply 卍 (ん じ じ, manji) represents love and compassion (Associated with the Amitabha Buddha), while the swastika pointing to the right, ura manji (internal svastika) or gyaku manji (inverted svastika) represents the wisdom and energy associated with Akshobhya.
