Japanese Crane Themed Wakizashi Koshirae
Edo period
This koshirae is composed of a crane-shaped Higo-style iron tsuba, a very nice kinko Fuchi-Kashira pair in shakudo with gilding and nanako-ji work, a pair of Menuki in shakudo with gilding on a floral theme, and a beautiful Kozuka signed Naomitsu /kao, still on the theme of the Japanese crane, in shakudo nanako-ji with gilding.
Interesting Saya with elaborate Urushi lacquer, patterned with Kamon of the Sakai clan. Clan which had an important role during the famous Boshin war against the imperial troops.

Nagasa of the tsunagi = 23 cm (the saya can of course accommodate a larger blade)
Tsunagi motohaba = 22.5mm
Saya sori = 1.1 cm approx.
Length of the tsuka = 16 cm
Tsuka nakago ana (with fuchi) = 22.2 x 6.7 mm
Nakago ana depth = approx. 10 cm
