Authentic and genuine Japanese warfare armor dating from the 17th century, early Edo.
Sujibachi Kabuto (helmet) made of 47 steel slats (rare) with an iron Tehen.
Menpô (half mask) of good quality in two parts assembled by pitons. Made of lacquered iron, and mustache in horse mane. Red lacquered interior.
Dô (plastron) of war made of heavy and solid steel blades covered with leather, with decoration representing waves unleashed in silver under a full moon.
Sode (shoulder pads) in lacquered steel with copper decorations.
Haidate and Kote (protection of the thighs and arms) in decorated fabric and chain mail with lacquered steel plates and gilded with gold leaf.
Tsubo Suneate (leggings) made of lacquered steel plates, decorated fabric and leather.
Kegutsu (shoes) leather.
The Kamon (emblem of the clan) depicted on the Kabuto and the Dô of this armor is that of Akechi Mitsuhide, legendary Samurai in the history of Japan called the « Shogun of Thirteen Days ».
Akechi Mitsuhide (明智 光秀, Akechi Mitsuhide), March 10, 1528 – July 2, 1582, nicknamed Jubei, was a samurai born in Mino Province (now Gifu Prefecture) during the Sengoku period of Japanese history. He was a general in the service of the daimyo Nobunaga Oda, although he later betrayed him and brought him to commit the seppuku, but also a cultured man, a great lover of the tea ceremony and a poet in his spare time.
He entered the service of Nobunaga in 1566, under the name of Koretō, after the conquest of his native province by it and receives Sakamoto (a stronghold of 100,000 koku in the province of Omi) in 1571. Even though It is rare for Nobunaga to put much trust in his vassals, he has full confidence in Shibata Katsuie, Hideyoshi Hashiba and Akechi Mitsuhide. After the latter received Sakamoto, he took care of pacifying the region of Tamba by defeating several clans including Tango and Isshiki.
After being a governor of Hyūga, he conquers the province of Tamba, today Kyoto, on behalf of Nobunaga, which allows him to access the emperor.
